Let me start this one with the bad news. This museum is closed. But since I've been to it and I have photos, I'm going to include it. (Been there. Got the T-shirt) Mainly because you can still see a lot of these great cars and many more at the Darryl Starbird Rod & Custom Car Shows that still go on every year in Tulsa. I'll put a link at the bottom so you can schedule a visit to a show.
This museum is special to me. I lived pretty close to it for a little over a decade and I kept putting off going. I thought it would always be there. One day, I got the urge to go so I piled the family into the truck and went. Glad we did because it closed about a month later. It's also special to me because it was one of the last outings that I got to do with my mom. She passed not long after, so this place is in my heart for that reason.
This museum was utterly fascinating. I was BIG into Hot Wheels and to see some of these custom cars brought me back to playing with those little four wheeled wonders. I couldn't believe that some of them were so odd and completely awesome AND they worked like normal cars! This would be one of those hobbies that could get very expensive very quickly. It's also the reason I love TV shows like the Gotham Garage crew. To see them turn rust buckets into beautiful works of art makes me smile.
Like I said before, don't try to go see this museum. It's closed. Could that change? Possibly, but don't count on it. You should, however, go see one of the shows. They're magnificent and well worth your time and space on your camera roll. Here's the link.
