Red Earth, Inc. Art Center(33)

I've never been one to do a lot of research before I go out exploring. It seems more fun to have an address, park close and wander toward my destiation. I never know if I'm going to see something awesome that I wouldn't have if I had just gone to the place, parked, went in, and left. And since downtown OKC is rife with interesting people, I choose to do it my way and roam. This time, my poor planning had me stumped trying to find the Red Earth Art Center. I followed the instructions, but the BancFirst building doesn't have an address on it anywhere that I could see. Thanks for screwing things up again BancFirst (long story I won't get into). I decided that this was, in fact, the building I need to be in so I went in and found a map. It showed that Red Earth Inc. was on the 27th floor. Cool. I head toward the elevator and, out of the corner of my eye, I notice some art hanging. Instead of getting on the elevator, I decided to go see what it was. It was the gallery I was looking for! Woohoo!

There are two spaces that Red Earth has on the ground floor. They're in the South lobby if you're like Magellan and you know your directions. I don't! Anyway, one is a gallery with exhibits that change every so often and the other is more of a gift shop that also has some art in it. I wandered around the little exhibit space and found some really great art to look at. I'm always amazed at how much good art can be found in the world. There were definitely quite a few great pieces here.

If you're downtown and you have a few minutes, it would do you good to go see some art that lives in the galleries like the Red Earth Art Center. You may love something so much you want to purchase it. They can help you with that too. I saw so many people shuffle by the art without giving it a glance or thought. I feel sorry for those people that don't seek or even notice beauty when it's right beside them even for an instant as they walk by it. This journey of museums has helped me regain my awareness for things around me that could potentially make me a little happier. I'm glad I finally found this gallery because I was much happier after I had seen it.
