Have you ever been to a place that seemed overwhelming for some reason? I've been a music nerd for a really long time. My parents had records (that I have now) from some of the top musicians that recorded at Sun Studios, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, Carl Perkins, and Elvis, what's his name?...oh yeah, Presley. These artists that I sat and listened to from the time I could drop a needle on the record had one thing in common, Sam Phillips. Sam produced so many hit records that, to this day, it staggers me a little. The talent of each artist combined with the talent of Sam caused a riff in the music world. All for our benefit.
I went to Sun Studios quite a while ago, but it's forever imprinted on my mind. I only have a couple of pictures mainly because I was so in awe of the place, but also because I had a crap camera at the time. This was the pre-iPhone days. But I got what I got and I'm glad to say I've been to one of the most iconic places in the US and the world. If you have the chance to go, you should.
Thankfully for all of us, Sun Records is still producing great musicians and music that fills the homes and halls all around the world. Check out their website to see what's up.
