Toy & Action Figure Museum (88)

A few months after I started this museum quest, I got the Oklahoma Museum Association's full list of the official museums in Oklahoma. Not all Oklahoma cites are listed, but it's the most complete list of places. When I got it, I reorganized it so I could see all the places to go in each town. That way I could go to say, Pauls Valley, and see everything there was to see in one trip. When I saw that the Toy & Action Figure Museum was there, my heart jumped for joy. I knew it would be a place I would completely freak out about. Since my giant list has 450ish museums, the toys were simply in line behind places that were a little closer to my house. I would make it there, it just might be a little while. However, my friend Marilyn posted a news story about it closing soon, so I rearranged my schedule so I wouldn't miss out on what I knew was going to be one of my favorite places. When I finally reached the entrance of the museum, I knew I was correct.

I didn't realize it until I started to write this article, but the Toy & Action Figure Museum is my 100th Oklahoma visit. 100!!! My 88th "Official" museum, but my 100th attraction. A milestone for me in such a great place makes it so fantastic. I wandered through the gift shop at the front of the museum before checking in to gain admission. I could see through the arch into the museum and immediately got a smile on my face. That smile would not leave my face until the next day! I handed my business card to the lovely woman at the register and she quickly passed it to the owner, Kevin. He, in turn, gave me his card and welcomed me in to the magical world of action figures. My plan was to chat with him at some point, but I was too distracted by all the great things. I saw him talking with so many people that were also thrilled to be there. I lost track of him at some point and then it was time for me to go. I'm sure if I needed to, I could ask him questions, but I'm just happy I got to see his work of art museum.

As I slowly strolled through this massive collection, I was trying to think of the things I would talk about for this article. I realized after the first room that there's no way I could talk about all the things I was seeing; The Simpsons, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Star Trek, and on and on and on. And that's what I love about how this is set up. No two people really see the same museum. While I was gobsmacked over KISS, The Crow, James Bond, and Shaun of the Dead, others might not even realized any of those were there because they were focused on Strawberry Shortcake, Ren & Stimpy, and The Fantastic Four. You could probably visit this museum a few times a year and see things that you didn't remember from last time. That's how big the collection is and it's all magnificent. Where else would you be able to spot the action figures of Ron Burgundy and Fred Sanford among the sea of cartoon characters? HA! Kudos to Kevin and those who helped him get to this point in the museum's journey. I don't know what the future holds for this collection. (I'm not even sure they do.) But if it ever pops up again or possibly in another location, you can bet I'll be there and I'll tell the world about it again. Much success to the crew at The Toy & Action Figure Museum, whatever that may be. You can still see the museum up to the end of August 2026, so GO NOW!!
