Seaba Station Motorcycle Museum(68)

I think we can all agree that Route 66 is iconic. I would wager that there isn't a more famous road. Well, maybe the silk road, but that doesn't have a motorcycle museum on it. But the Seaba Station is on Route 66 and right here in Oklahoma. And, man, is it cool especially to gear heads and bike nerds. I took a trip out to Warwick to see this historic building and the great collection that lives there.

Opened in 1921, five years before 66 was officially certified, the service station made travel on this new stretch of road an easier venture for motorists. John and Alice Seaba sold gas and John started rebuilding machines and engines eventually getting a government contract to rebuild connecting rods. Over the years, it has changed hands a couple of times until Jerry Ries and Gerald Tims bought it and converted it into the motorcycle museum. As I've said before, I don't look at what a museum has in it before I visit, so I had no idea what I was walking in to. When I walked in, it immediately put a smile on my face. Then, I stepped into the main display room and my smile turned to a wide eyed awe. There was so much to see. So many motorcyles to drool over. (No motorcycles were damaged! HA!) I kept saying "Ohh" and taking a picture. I may have taken a pic of every bike in the place, but I restrained from posting all of them. I want to leave some things for you to discover on your own when you go see this amazing historic place. Whether you're traveling the entire road or just going to specific places when you can, you have to make this one of your stops. And, you can see the very first outhouse with plumbing! Bonus! You can't use it by the way. Just see what a pit stop looked like in the beginning days of American travel. If you're looking up the Seaba Station, the mailing address is Chandler, but the building is in Warwick. Either way you see it, you'll be on the right path to go see a fantastic museum. And, you can be like me a pick up a Seaba Station t-shirt or two. You can see I also got a Seaba sticker up on my travel board too. Definitely a good memory!
